After a pause, I am excited to release a new podcast episode, this time with William Green, who talks about his new book Richer, Wiser, Happier. Tony Robbins describes it as “a brilliant book packed with powerful insights from the world’s most successful investors.”
Long standing listeners will know that investing has been a regular theme in my podcast. Guests like Robert Hagstrom, Professor Larry Cunningham, and Brad Feld have all offered up their insights on Berkshire Hathaway, Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett, as well as finding great investments.
William takes a different approach, profiling a wide range of investors and distilling important lessons from his decades of studying them up close, as a journalist with unique access to them over the years. The results are compelling, and the insights have relevance for all of us, going well beyond finance into the domain of “worldly wisdom”.
Over the years I have read much that has been written about Charlie Munger and John Templeton, for example, but nonetheless I took away fresh lessons and perspectives from William’s book. For example:
The power of cloning (Mohnish Pabrai)
Being “good enough” (Joel Greenblatt)
Staying in the game by making non-fatal mistakes (Tom Gayner )
Destination analysis, deferring gratification, and “scale economics shared” (Nick Sleep)
William’s book is released next Tuesday 20th April, and you can order it here. In the meantime, take a listen to the podcast here, and let me know what you think.
Have a great weekend!
Mark
