New guests, become a Founding Member, and my new Board role: all from OutsideLens
I am often asked why I continue to podcast, given the investment in time and money, and the answer is simple: because it is a great way to learn, and to share that learning in public. I know many of you find my work of value. For example, some of you told me you learned a tremendous amount from my conversation with William Green, who has studied the habits, philosophies, strategies and tactics of some of the world’s greatest investors, in his latest book Richer, Wiser, Happier. In case you missed the episode, it is here.
However, this learning does come at a cost, and in response to a regular question I get from my audience “how can I help?”, here is my answer. Become a Founding Member of this community, and make a donation to help me cover the costs of my editorial and technology team. You can do so by subscribing to the premium edition of this newsletter, and take advantage of some unique benefits associated by being a Founding Member of OutsideLens. If you are able and willing to help, please contact me at markb@outsidelens.com. I am truly grateful for your support.
One such benefit is to be able to submit questions to upcoming podcast guests. In the next few weeks I will be interviewing accomplished investors like Joel Greenblatt (founder of Gotham Capital) and Richard Koch (author of The 80/20 Principle), Chris Yeh (author with Reid Hastings of Blitzscaling, and GP of Blitzscaling Ventures), and Robert Paalberg, Harvard Professor focussing on international agriculture and author of Resetting the Table. Any topics you would like me to explore with them, please email me at markb@outsidelens.com.
In advance of your generosity(!), I have invested in upgrading www.outsidelens.com to make it easier for you to navigate the library of podcasts, the transcripts and show notes, and to explore other episodes of interest.
Finally, I am pleased to have recently joined the Board of Directors of Nsion, a Finnish technology company with several of the characteristics of the kinds of businesses that Richard Koch and Chris Yeh might invest in: specifically, scaleability, leadership in a fast growing market segment, and network effects. I join an accomplished leadership team and Board, and look forward to helping build the business in the years ahead.
Have a great weekend!
Mark
